Every displayed result comes from explicit dimensions and simple geometry. There is no hidden AI model deciding which bed you should buy.
Fit calculation
The selected mattress width and length are oriented inside the entered room. The tool calculates left, right, head, and foot clearances from the current placement. A mattress “physically fits” when its footprint does not exceed either room dimension.
Clearance status
For a centered bed, the selected target is checked on both sides and at the foot. For a bed intentionally placed against one side wall, the flush side is excluded and the open side plus foot are checked. Head clearance is shown but is not required because beds commonly sit against the headboard wall.
Recommendation ranking
Recommendable standard sizes receive a large penalty when they do not physically fit. Remaining sizes are ranked using the selected clearance target, length beyond the tallest sleeper, nominal width per sleeper, and the compact/balanced/maximum-space preference. The result always includes reasons and warnings.
Units and precision
Calculations use inches internally. Metric displays use the exact conversion 1 inch = 2.54 centimeters. Regional metric sizes retain their supplied metric dimensions and are converted to inches for geometry.
Furniture overlay
The optional overlay uses two 20 × 20 inch nightstands and a nominal 60 × 18 inch dresser. It is a quick stress test, not a substitute for entering your furniture’s exact measurements.
